Akwaaba. Welcome. I always say that i was born in Ghana but I became a woman in New York. I am part of the “import-export” generation of African children whose parents kept ping-ponging them between countries in hopes of finding the dream of a better life. In 2018, I was working & living on the Upper West Side of New York City and I knew it'll be my last year of fast walking, rat-racing and eating pseudo-Chinese food at 11pm after working 14 hour days. I connected with a couple of people who had done the move and prepared as much as I could.
I made the move in November 2019 and I could not have prepared enough. I currently work as a Business Lecturer in the University of Cape Coast, teaching business courses to undergrad long distance mature students. I also run my family’s basic school and create visual content about Ghanaian lifestyle on my Youtube channel, which you can watch and subscribe to at www.youtube.com/NanaAshantigh
Africa is welcoming and warm. We hope that this book and its subsequent courses and classes, gives you all the information you need to make the move. Like I say to everyone who asks about making the move, whatever is pushing you to do this research, is the right thing. Answer it.

Hey family! My journey to Ghana began when I made the decision to study abroad at the University of Ghana, Legon in 2011. At the time, I had lived in the U.S. for 11 years and had not stepped foot in Ghana since I left at the age of 10. I loved my study abroad experience and always knew I would return. Through a series of life events, I landed back in the country on January 2nd, 2016 and could not leave. I was taken by the energy and complexity of the business ecosystem in Accra.
As of this year, 2020, I have spent about 4+ years in Ghana. During my time there, I co-founded ChaleKasa, a bespoke events company curating experiences to connect Diasporans and Africans and through which I hosted Bunch at the Palm, The Black Gala, and The Catalysts events. I also co-founded Africans on China, a consultancy and media platform elevating the voice of Africans on China and connecting African entrepreneurs and institutions to China and vice-versa. I also co-founded the Women's Corner Ghana project, a platform to foster dialogue and inspire action among Ghanaian women content creators.
Among some of my proudest work during my time in Ghana must be my writings. I published 400+ articles with more than 8+million views in Face2Face Africa, Crunchbase, The Data-Driven Investor, Blavity, The Plug, and Future of Ghana publications within those years.
Today, I work as a data scientist, writer, and consultant. My debut book, Should I Return, is a poetic reflection of my journey to Ghana and what it has meant for me. The book is available on Amazon and my website: www.boakyeb.com. You can send me questions on the topics here and stay updated on my work through IG: @boakyeb.
I truly hope that this book is of value to you as you embark or continue on your journey to Ghana.
